Pre-Engineered Homes in Lonavala, Maharashtra, India

____________________________________________________

Plot Area: 1 Acre (4046 Sq.M.)
Location: Pawna Lake, Lonavala, Maharashtra, India
Year: Under Construction. End December 2024
Scope of Work: Master Plannning, Architecture Design and Landscape Design
Pre-engineered homes are becoming the most enticing and sought-after housing solution for staycations, vacations, corporate events, and quick weekend getaways. Considering our innate interest and expertise in constructing steel structures, we, at Atelier ARBO, are exploring the designing, master planning, and execution of a pre-engineered A-Frame Resort proposed on a contoured plot of area 1 Acre (4046 Sq. m), overlooking the beautiful and serene Pawna Lake in Lonavala, India.

Situated amidst hilly regions and surrounded by a reserved forest, the existing site showcases a play of different levels through its natural contours. The proposed development plan for the A-Frame Resort includes four individual 2 BHK housing units with an attic space for visitors to stay and relax in, a security cabin for the security guards responsible for the safety of the entire campus, staff quarters for the stay facility of the maintenance staff, and a common dining hall area for the enjoyment and get-together functions of large groups.

Although the master plan portrays a seamless segregation of individual units interspersed with lush vegetation and scenic views to allow every visitor adequate repose and privacy, the individual units smoothly culminate into the common gathering spaces spread across the site resulting in a united yet individualistic design. The common activity spaces include the dining hall, a barbeque zone, interaction zones, and interesting outdoor play areas for recreational purposes.

With an approximate area of about 2,500 sq. ft., each individual 2-BHK housing unit has two storeys and an attic space at the uppermost floor, internally connected by a cantilevered steel staircase. The ground floor hosts a living room, a bedroom, and a pantry with a dining table. The bedroom has a balcony which opens up to a lounge area with reclined seating around a private plunge pool. On the first floor, the second bedroom takes in expansive vivid views of the picturesque setting of the nearby lake and forest through the lavish balcony having a seating space. The attic space above the first floor is another compact personal space with an attached balcony for someone to spend some quality time with their own thoughts or perhaps delve into a book in a quiet corner of this space. Each 2-BHK unit has modern amenities like jacuzzi, bath tub, spacious balcony, a plunge pool, and opulent interiors.

The decision of using steel for the construction of this resort was influenced by many significant factors like, the strength, durability, and flexibility of steel as a construction material. Many important advantages like, a considerable reduction in the overall construction time period, hassle-free installation of pre-engineered modules, elimination of the tedious transport of traditional building materials to difficult terrains, and a reduction in labour cost and unnecessary climate-induced delays can be seen as main reasons behind the surge of pre-engineered homes in the tourism sector. Our previous experience of working with steel structures motivated us to visualize these A-Frame villas using pre-fabricated modules of steel combined with high-class interiors. The steel framework will approximately cover a span of 7 m and a length of 16.75 m in each residential bungalow, with the apex height of the A-Frame being approximately 10 m.

Each visitor of this proposed resort will be surrounded by the tranquility and serenity of the natural landscape, experiencing a calming and peaceful getaway from the fast-paced life of the city. With enticing opportunities to explore nature trails and go on small hikes, visitors can reconnect to the beauty and positivity of nature.

Through this project, we aim to take a huge step forward in our journey of constructing serene and scenic pre-engineered homes and villas using the powers of a multi-functional material like steel.
